Fourth Annual UGA Dialogue Dinner

Interfaith Cultural Organization, IFCO, hosted its 4th Annual UGA Dialogue Dinner on March the 26rd. The annual dinner serves IFCO's aim of promoting mutual understanding and dialogue between different religions and cultures. This year the event, at which over 80 guests are attended, hold at Reception Hall, Tate Center, UGA. Theme of the dinner is "Turkey's role in the alliance of civilizations".

Tarik Celik, M.B.A, is the Executive Director of Istanbul Center of Atlanta. Istanbul Center, a public charity, non-profit, non-governmental and non-partisan organization, established in 2002 to promote a better understanding and closer relations between individuals and communities, building bridges between the Turkish, American and other communities in Atlanta and the Southeastern United States. As part of our Mission Statement here at Istanbul Center, we seek above all to proactively contribute to solving educational, cultural, environmental, social and humanitarian issues. We work towards contributing to world peace by showcasing the Turkish historical experience of the “Art of Living Together” via respect, acceptance, dialogue, love, richness of faith and culture.
Dr. Peter Cohen received his Ph.D. from Florida State University in Humanities and Religion, his M.A. from Florida State University in Biblical Studies and his B.A. in Religion and Philosophy from Springfield College. His dissertation was entitled “A Motif Index of the Angel of Death in Early Rabbinic Literature.” Dr. Cohen came to Clemson in 1995 after teaching at Appalachian State University, Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College. His teaching interests revolve around looking at the common traits shared by the religious traditions of the world, rather than looking for their differences. Dr. Cohen can often be found teaching adult education in area churches on Sunday mornings or as an instructor in the University’s Osher Life Long Learning Institute for retired people from the community. Presently, he is teaching the general education courses in Religion for the department.
