Fourth Annual Dialogue Dinner
October 23, 7:00 pm, Georgia Center, UGA

Interfaith Cultural Organization, IFCO, hosted its 4th Annual Dialogue Dinner on October the 23rd. The annual dinner serves IFCO's aim of promoting mutual understanding and dialogue between different religions and cultures. The event that around 100 distinguished guests attended was held in the Center for Continuing Education of UGA. The guests were from diverse ambiences, such as: acclaimed spiritual leaders, academicians and directors from University of Georgia, politicians, representatives of different cultural and ethnic groups, PhD students, journalists and members of the Athens community.

Dr. Jill Carroll, Executive Director of the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance at Rice University, was the keynote speaker on this year’s event.

Dr. Carroll holds a PhD from Rice University in Philosophy of Religion and currently is the Executive Director of the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance at Rice University whose mission is to understand and facilitate the conditions that lead to sustained peaceful coexistence among people of different religions. She is also Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Rice. In addition to teaching at the university, she has taught widely in the Houston area, including at all campuses of the University of Houston system, The Women’s Institute of Houston and The Jung Center of Houston. She is the author of 3 books and has been a columnist for The Chronicle of Higher Education. Through her own company and in collaboration with other organizational consultants, she has done religious diversity training for corporations, groups and individuals. In her latest book, "A Dialogue of Civilizations", Dr. Jill Carroll describes effectively not only the need for dialogue; she also shows us the critical way forward. Dr. Jill Carroll invites all to come to the table to discuss the truth about ourselves and our world. She currently resides in Houston, Texas.
