Free Cooking Classes: Turkish Kisir
November 11, 11:00-12:00, Tate Center, Room 145, UGA
InterFaith Cultural Organization (IFCO) continues its free classes. This week we are going to show how to cook Turkish Kisir. If you would like to learn and taste how to prepare this tasty dish, please come and join us.
Free tea will be served with Turkish Kisir at the end of class.

Ingredients:
1) 2 cups of bulghur
2) 2 cups of boiled water
3) 2 medium tomatoes
4) 1 onion
5) 2 green pepper
6) 6-7 green onion
7) 1 cucumber
8) parsley
9) a few fresh mint leaves (also can substitude with dried mint)
10) one tbs pepper paste
11) one tbs tomato paste
12) 1-2 cloves of garlic (optional)
13) 1/2 cup of olive oil
14) 1/2 cup of lemon juice
Spices:
- one tsp black pepper
- one tsp salt
- one tsp crashed red pepper (optional)
- one tsp cumin powder
For decoration:
- sliced tomatoes
- lettuce leaves
- pickles
Preparation:
- Chop the onion, green onions, and garlic finely. Set them aside.
- Pour 2 cups of hot water on bulghur and cover it to make bulghur soaks the water and get soften.
- Meanwhile chop the other veggies in to the tiny cubes; green peppers, parsley, tomatoes, fresh mint leaves, and cucumber.
- Wait 10- 15 minutes and then put the pepper paste, tomato paste, and all the spices to the bulghur mixture.
- Add the onion mixture in to the bulghur and mix them.
- Then add chopped tomatoes, cucumber, mint leaves, green peppers.
- Pour 1/2 cup of olive oil and lemon juice.
- Mix them finely.
- Decorate the platter with sliced tomatoes, lettuce leaves, and pickles.
- Cover KISIR till the time you serve it.
